Teeth Whitening

It is a natural part of the aging process for teeth to become discolored over time. Consumption of enamel-staining beverages like coffee, cola, and tea; tobacco-use; and even taking some medications can accelerate tooth enamel darkening. Porcelain Veneers

One Visit CEREC® Crowns & Onlays

At Mint Hill Dentistry we understand that many people find it challenging to take time off from their busy schedules to visit the dentist's office. Our cosmetic dentistry practice uses the CEREC® Dental Restoration System to provide natural looking and highly durable crowns and onlays in only a single visit. This technology offers patients beautiful, long-lasting results of a conventional crown or onlay treatment in a fraction of the time. CEREC® crowns and onlays are made of precisely crafted ceramic materials.

CEREC® crowns are usually employed when a significant amount of a patient's tooth has been lost or damaged. A CEREC® crown can restore both the beauty and function of a patient's smile. When combined with a dental implant, a CEREC® crown can also be employed as a tooth loss solution. CEREC® crowns are often recommended to patients undergoing endodontic therapy. CEREC® onlays are similar to CEREC® crowns, although they replace less of the existing tooth enamel and are used to treat less extensive tooth damage. Tooth-Colored Fillings

Like many of the treatments at our Mint Hill and Charlotte-area cosmetic dentistry practice, tooth-colored fillings can be placed for both aesthetic and functional reasons. They can be used either to treat dental cavities or to replace existing metal fillings. For a patient receiving treatment for a new cavity, one advantage of having a tooth-colored filling placed, rather than a metal filling, is that it allows the dentist to preserve more of the existing structure of the tooth. The malleability of the tooth-colored filling material allows the dentist more control over the shape and size of the filling.

Tooth-colored fillings are made of composite resin. Composite resin is a soft, paste-like material that can be customized to match the color of your natural teeth. When filling a patient's cavity the dentist will select the shade of composite resin that will yield the nicest cosmetic result. Tooth-colored fillings bond to and blend with a patient's natural tooth enamel. Gum Lifting

Many people who are unhappy with the appearance of their smile complain that their smile is too gummy. A gummy smile is one where there is so much excess gum tissue present in the mouth that it has begun to conceal the base of a patient's teeth. There are a variety of reasons why a gummy smile might occur, including improper gum recession at the time when the permanent teeth come in, reaction to medication, and swelling as a result of excessive mouth breathing. A smile may also appear gummy in a patient with a naturally high upper lip line.

Gum lifting involves removing any excess gum tissue that is concealing a patient's smile. One of the experienced oral surgeons at Mint Hill Dentistry will make small and concise incisions along the gum line. Gum lifting is not a difficult procedure. Local anesthesia is employed to ensure the patient experiences no discomfort. After a gum lifting procedure a patient's teeth appear longer and better aligned. The gum line may also appear more even and elegant. A patient's gums typically begin to heal in less than a week.

A smile makeover is a customized combination of one or more of the cosmetic treatments such as teeth whitening, porcelain veneers, or tooth-colored fillings.
